ABOUT US

OPEN YOUR HEART AND YOUR HOME WHEN YOU ADOPT OR HELP A PET

WHAT WE DO

Save A Pet Florida, Inc. was originally founded as “Save Precious Lives, Inc.” by Gertrude Maxwell in 1978.  The name was changed to Save A Pet Florida, Inc. on January 19, 1988. Every day our volunteers donate their time to rescue homeless animals from a parking lot, a car engine, an abandoned building, etc.

We receive phone calls from people who have found an injured cat where they work or live and don’t know what to do. We care about these cats and don’t want to see them suffer. We will help as best we can but please understand that we are an all-volunteer organization and simply don’t have the resources to handle the load. Therefore we can loan you a humane trap, provide instructions for use and connect you with a Vet that can assist. If our finances allow, we can help with a payment to the Vet. With the help of the community at large, more injured stray cats can be saved and won’t have to suffer and die needlessly. Let’s all do our part to help these kitties.

We receive daily emails from high kill facilities about sick and injured dogs that need rescue to prevent euthanasia. Nearly every dog in our foster program is recovering from an accident or illness.
